Kara J. Carey joined the firm in 2013 and was announced partner in 2017.  An experienced family law practitioner, she has been practicing domestic relations law since 2007.   She has managed all aspects of family law cases including divorce, child support, child custody, paternity, alimony, division of property, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, contempts, modifications, removals and guardianships of minors.  She has obtained and defended against Abuse Prevention (209 A) hearings in Probate and District Courts.  Kara is a skilled litigator and frequently appears in various Massachusetts courts for motion hearings, pre-trial conferences, trials, contempt hearings, and guardianship matters.

A trained mediator and conciliator, Kara participates in the Norfolk Probate and Family Court Conciliation program through the Norfolk Bar Association. Kara also offers private conciliation to those who need assistance in resolving their case. Kara is also trained as a collaborative attorney. She also provides representation to clients who are going through the mediation process.  Kara is also a participant in the Norfolk County ARC Program (Attorneys Representing Children) and has been recognized by the Court for her work and was a council member on the Bar Association of Norfolk County.  While a law student, Kara interned with now Chief Justice Paula M. Carey at the Norfolk Probate and Family Court.

For several years now, Kara has organized a drive at Christmas time to purchase presents for children involved with the Department of Children and Families (DCF), ensuring over 180 children received gifts last year. She also chairs the scholarship committee for the Walpole Chamber of Commerce.
